Our online consultations assess whether you have the mental capacity to make or amend your will in accordance with the principles of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and the established legal test for testamentary capacity.

During your appointment we will:

Discuss your medical history.

Assess your understanding of your will and estate.

Confirm that you are able to make your own decisions.

Ensure that you are acting freely and without undue influence.
Most appointments take around 20 minutes.

When is a Capacity Assessment Needed?
Your solicitor may request a medical opinion if:

You are making a new will later in life.
-
You are changing an existing will.
-
You have a diagnosis of dementia or memory problems.
-
You have experienced a neurological illness or stroke.
-
There is concern that the will could be challenged in the future.
An independent GP assessment can provide reassurance for both you and your solicitor.

Will I Receive a Letter?
Yes.
Where appropriate, we can provide a written medical opinion following your consultation, which can be shared with your solicitor.
If further assessment is required before a medical opinion can be given, we will explain this during your appointment.

As I entered the tastefully curated space, I encountered one of the rarest of things: a polite, smiling and genuinely welcoming receptionist. In fact, she was so warm and courteous that I briefly wondered whether I had wandered into an upmarket spa by mistake.
Then I met Dr Sweeney. He was charming, courteous, friendly and thoroughly professional, with the kind of bedside manner that reminds you what general practice can be at its best: attentive, humane and quietly confident. He came across as someone who takes real pride in his work and genuinely cares for his patients.
The whole experience felt like stepping back into a time when patients were warmly received and doctors truly doctored. As I was leaving, Dr Sweeney mentioned that he was off on a home visit. A GP doing a home visit in 2026? I was so astonished I nearly needed examining all over again.
