Private Gender Reveal Scans at London Bridge
Finding out whether you’re expecting a boy or a girl can be one of the most exciting moments of pregnancy.
Our London Bridge Gender Reveal Scan is designed to make that moment enjoyable and unhurried, while maintaining the clinical standards you would expect from a medical ultrasound service.
Before looking at your baby’s gender, your sonographer will perform a brief wellbeing assessment, including confirmation of fetal cardiac activity.
You can then choose whether you would like us to tell you the result during your scan, keep it secret from you, or place the result in a sealed envelope for your own gender reveal celebration.
Our London Bridge clinic is located at The News Building, 3 London Bridge Street, immediately beside London Bridge Station and The Shard.
What’s Included in Your Gender Reveal Scan?
Your £175 Gender Reveal Scan includes:
Gender Scans From 16 Weeks
We recommend booking your Gender Reveal Scan from 16 weeks of pregnancy.
At this stage of pregnancy, the external genitalia are usually sufficiently developed to allow an experienced sonographer to determine fetal sex with a high degree of accuracy, provided your baby’s position allows adequate visualisation.
Because visibility depends upon fetal position, no ultrasound examination can guarantee that gender will be determined at the first appointment. If we cannot obtain a sufficiently clear view, we will not guess.
Instead, we can arrange a complimentary return scan where appropriate.
Our Patient Review

I was understandably very worried and was able to book an appointment within just a couple of hours. From the moment we met him, Dr Mac Sweeney was kind, reassuring, professional and genuinely caring. He took the time to listen, explained everything clearly, and made us feel that my husband was in very safe hands.
What impressed me most was that his care did not stop when we left the consultation. He followed up on several occasions to check on my husband's progress, prescribed more medicine and even went out of his way to provide a letter for our insurance company, which was incredibly helpful.
In a world where good service can sometimes feel hard to find, Dr Mac Sweeney demonstrated a level of compassion and personal attention that was truly exceptional. The fee was also very reasonable, especially given the time, care and support we received.
I would wholeheartedly recommend Dr Mac Sweeney to anyone needing medical assistance and will always be grateful for the kindness he showed to both of us. If I lived in London I would most certainly subscribe to his membership scheme so he could deal with all my family's medical needs.

The clinic has a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, with a fresh, calming scent that immediately creates a welcoming environment. Everything was explained clearly and professionally, making the whole experience completely stress-free.
I particularly appreciated the expert advice and felt comfortable throughout. I would highly recommend The Blackheath Clinic to anyone looking for a professional, patient-focused service.

As I entered the tastefully curated space, I encountered one of the rarest of things: a polite, smiling and genuinely welcoming receptionist. In fact, she was so warm and courteous that I briefly wondered whether I had wandered into an upmarket spa by mistake.
Then I met Dr Sweeney. He was charming, courteous, friendly and thoroughly professional, with the kind of bedside manner that reminds you what general practice can be at its best: attentive, humane and quietly confident. He came across as someone who takes real pride in his work and genuinely cares for his patients.
The whole experience felt like stepping back into a time when patients were warmly received and doctors truly doctored. As I was leaving, Dr Sweeney mentioned that he was off on a home visit. A GP doing a home visit in 2026? I was so astonished I nearly needed examining all over again.
Join this practice quickly before word gets out and the list fills up. This is care delivered by people who genuinely care, and that feels all too rare these days

I had lip filler and RRS Long Lasting skin boosters, and she took the time to explain everything clearly, answer all my questions, and ensure I felt confident about the treatments. Her attention to detail and gentle approach really stood out, and I couldn’t be happier with the results.
Dr Micha Plugaru truly combines expertise with a warm, personal touch. I would highly recommend her to anyone considering aesthetic treatments — you’re in the safest and most caring hands.
A Moment to Enjoy – With Clinical Reassurance Built In
A Gender Reveal Scan should be enjoyable
We therefore allow time for you to see your baby, ask questions and enjoy the experience without feeling that you are being rushed through an appointment.
At the same time, your examination takes place within a doctor-led medical clinic and is performed by an HCPC-registered diagnostic sonographer.
This provides a different environment from a purely entertainment-based or high-street scanning service: the experience can still be special, while appropriate clinical standards and referral pathways remain in place.
What to Expect at Your Appointment
Gender Reveal Scan for a Surprise Announcement
You don’t have to discover the result during your appointment.
Many parents prefer us to keep the baby’s gender secret so that the result can be used for a later gender reveal with friends or family.
Simply tell your sonographer that you don’t want to know.
We can record the result discreetly and provide it in a sealed envelope, allowing you to pass it to the person organising your reveal without seeing it yourself.

Common Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
We recommend having your Gender Reveal Scan from 16 weeks of pregnancy.
Gender determination by ultrasound from 16 weeks can be highly accurate when your baby’s anatomy can be clearly visualised. However, accuracy depends upon gestation, fetal position and image quality.
We will only give you a result when the sonographer is sufficiently confident in what can be seen.
Babies don’t always cooperate!
Your sonographer will make reasonable attempts to obtain an appropriate view. If your baby’s position prevents confident gender determination, we can arrange a complimentary re-scan where appropriate.

Tell us before the scan that you would like the result kept secret and we can provide it in a sealed envelope for your gender reveal.
Yes. Partners are very welcome, and a close family member may also attend where appropriate.
Yes, images will be provided where possible, depending upon your baby’s position and visibility during the examination.
We perform a brief wellbeing assessment, including confirmation of fetal cardiac activity, before determining gender. This is not, however, an anomaly scan or comprehensive assessment of fetal anatomy.
No. Your private Gender Reveal Scan is an additional scan and does not replace routine NHS maternity care, including your dating/screening scan or 20-week anomaly scan.
